About the Role

onWater is seeking a proactive and digitally fluent Community Engagement Intern to support our two mobile apps: onWater Fish and PaddleWays. This internship is offered exclusively to current members of the Trout Unlimited Costa 5 Rivers program, in alignment with our community impact partnership.

This role is designed for someone who loves participating in online conversations around fishing, paddling, and outdoor recreation, and who understands how to build community through authentic engagement. Your objective will be to strengthen our presence across social platforms by joining and contributing to relevant conversations, building relationships, and representing the onWater brand in a positive, knowledgeable, and consistent voice that aligns with our brand guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively monitor and participate in relevant conversations on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and other forums to increase visibility and engagement for the onWater Fish and PaddleWays brands.
• Identify and engage with individuals, clubs, content creators, shops, and groups aligned with our audience and mission.
• Leave meaningful, timely comments and replies on posts, threads, and community discussions to organically boost brand awareness.
• Collaborate with the internal marketing team to align outreach efforts with broader campaigns, seasonal activations, and brand voice.
• Track outreach activity and engagement trends to help inform future strategies.

Requirements

• Must be a current and active member of a Trout Unlimited Costa 5 Rivers club.
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student and eligible for college credit.
• Demonstrated familiarity with online communities in the outdoor or recreation space, particularly on Instagram, Facebook, and Reddit.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and message to fit different platforms and audiences.
• Deep interest in water-based recreation, fly fishing, paddling, and river conservation.
• Self-starter with strong attention to detail and a consistent follow-through mindset.
• Experience with social media engagement, digital outreach, or community moderation is a plus.
